From the NCTM Desk: Looking Ahead!

Mark your calendars! The next two NCTM Annual Meetings & Expositions are October 15–18, 2025, in Atlanta, GA, and October 28–31, 2026, in Denver, CO. The 2026 theme is Mathematics for a Changing World: Belonging, Learning, and Leading, and the call for speakers is open now.
(And don’t forget: our MCTM Conference is set for April 24–25, 2026—right here in Duluth.)

Member Resource Spotlight: NCTM members have access to Illuminations—a collection of rich lesson plans and activities for Pre-K–12. With interactive tools, teaching notes, and ready-to-use tasks, it’s a great way to engage students in problem solving and reasoning.

Classroom Tip: Same But Different: Present two problems, graphs, or shapes that look similar but have key differences, and ask students to compare and contrast. This routine promotes critical thinking, communication, and connections between mathematical ideas.
