Meet your Region 6 Director!

Hello! My name is Jessica Fricke and I am the new Region 6 Director for MCTM. 

This fall I began my 20th year in education (not sure how that happened so fast!) and I currently teach kindergarten at Sunset Hill Elementary in Wayzata Public Schools. As I reflect on two decades of elementary teaching, I recall moments of significant development as a math teacher. Most impactful was an opportunity five years ago to serve my district and pilot a new math curriculum. Through the professional discussions, new practices, and time for reflection on math instruction and learning, I fell in LOVE with teaching math in a way I never imagined possible! 

This opportunity to serve as MCTM Region Director combines my passion for mathematics education along with my desire to be involved in my community and grow professionally. My experience with our youngest mathematicians will bring a unique and necessary perspective to the work of MCTM. I hope to bring a positive energy and commitment to learning how to best meet the needs of all math learners, including teachers!
