That’s a Wrap: MCTM Spring Conference Recap!
The 2025 MCTM Spring Conference in Duluth is officially in the books! With a full slate of inspiring speakers and over 900 math educators in attendance, it was two days packed with energy, learning, and connection.
Thank you to everyone who made it happen, especially our amazing presenters who shared their time, ideas, and passion for math education.
One of the best parts of the weekend was reconnecting with math friends I only see once a year, and meeting so many new educators, too. Whether it was in sessions, over lunch, or just chatting in the hallways, the energy was contagious. The shared stories, laughter, and exchange of ideas reminded me how powerful it is to be part of a community that’s passionate about teaching and learning mathematics.
The conference truly felt like the launchpad for the 2022 Minnesota Math Standards. Howie and Latrenda’s keynotes, along with many other sessions, challenged us to rethink the classroom experience. It is not a race for speed, but a journey in pattern-finding, problem-solving, and connection-making.
There’s a renewed energy around rejuvenating what the mathematics classroom looks, sounds and feels like. We’re moving beyond rote skills to embracing math as a verb; something students do, not just something they learn. It’s about supporting our diverse learners with rich tasks, meaningful discourse, and a focus on both math and data literacy.
Together, we’re building a future where every student can see themselves as a mathematician. Thanks for being part of that movement! I hope to see many of you again next year!
