Title:  MDE Mathematical Sense-Making Series Part 2:  Using Sense-Making to Prepare for the MCA Math Assessment

Description:  Join the Minnesota Math Leaders and the MDE Math Standards and Assessment Team.  This webinar is part 2 in the MDE Mathematical Sense-Making Series.  You are encouraged (not mandatory) to attend Part 1 on February 23rd or watch the recording prior to attending this session.

What does effective MCA test prep look like through the lens of mathematical sense-making?  Is it possible to do fewer items well and still be effective in preparing students for the assessments?  The MDE math team will share 3 specific ways that Minnesota math educators can use the MCA grade 3-HS Minnesota Questions Tool items that center students as reasoners of mathematics will be modeled and discussed. Exemplars will be shared that can be adapted to any grade level or other standardized assessments.Math assessment prep does not need to last weeks and weeks and involve packets of problems. It is possible to do less and get more out of your prep center students as mathematical reasoners.

The 4:00 pm session will  be recorded. Anyone registering for either session will receive a link to the recording the week of March 6th.
