Equity Committee Update May 2020

I hope this newsletter finds everyone safe and healthy. These are difficult times as humans, and as educators, even more strange and uncertain. On April 23, 2020, Governor Walz closed school buildings for the remainder of the school year. Though distance learning looks very different across the state, we are all learning how to do it while social distancing. During this time, each and every one of us, as well as each and every one of our students, is struggling to navigate this new world and balancing survival with daily living. Also on the evening of April 23, two classroom educators had a discussion about teaching math during these strange times. We wanted to share this recording with all of you in hopes that everyone has a chance to listen and learn. As educators, may we find ways to grant ourselves and our students grace and find ways to be critically conscious about the what and how we are teaching mathematics.
