Goals as MCTM President:

I attended my first Spring MCTM Conference at Cragun’s while I was student teaching. I was hooked. The sessions were thought-provoking and conversations with other teachers made an immediate impact on my practice. Over the years, MCTM has evolved, but meaningful mathematics education conversation is still at the heart of this organization. As President, I will work to continue and expand our opportunities for discourse via regional meet-ups, statewide conferences, and online platforms.

One of our major challenges is equity. We need to continue the efforts of our Equity task force, both to build a more inclusive organization and to build the capacity of our members to provide a high-quality mathematics education for all learners. I will work with your Board of Directors to reach out to mathematics educators at all grade levels and all experience levels. I fervently believe that working together leads to an improved mathematics experience for all. Bringing more teachers into our professional organization will strengthen our practice, increase the base for our advocacy, and benefit all of our students.
