Winner Announced for MCTM Membership Drive

Congratulations to our first membership drive winner, Tammy Brooks from Ulen-Hitterdal High School. Tammy referred someone who signed up for an MCTM membership. Her name was then randomly selected from a drawing and she chose an Amazon gift card, which was mailed to her recently. Here are some thoughts she shared.
What is one thing you appreciate about being part of the MCTM community?
“This is the place I turn to if I need updates on what is happening in regard to math education in Minnesota. MCTM also provides me the opportunity to network with math teachers across the state.”
What math book, resource, or website do you find yourself returning to again and again?
“I find myself going to mathequalslove.net when I am looking for ideas for my classroom.”
How do you stay energized or motivated as a math educator?
“Many years ago, someone suggested that I create a “fun” file. The idea is just add things to that file that make you smile. I include notes from parents or students, drawings students have made for me, school pictures that kids have given me, notes from co-workers, inspirational quotes, etc. If I get discouraged or overwhelmed I open up the file and remind myself of these fun things. I have been doing this for 30 plus years and now have added a digital fun file in my email too.”
