This is Not a Test – A Book Report

I have not written a book report since I was in high school, but after reading This is Not a Test РA New Narrative on Race, Class, and Education by Jos̩ Luis Vilson and listening to Vilson speak at the MCTM Spring Conference, I am inspired to write. I encourage you to read his book, this book report will not be a spoiler.

Summer Math Camps for Students

The Minnesota Math League is hosting two math camps as part of their Summer Institute. Opportunities are available for students entering grades 7-12 to study mathematics that goes beyond the traditional curriculum.

NEW Released Math MCA Items

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), for the first time in its history, has released some math items for teacher and student use on our website. Supplemental information, such as metadata and answer option rationales, is provided to make the items more useful for classroom practice.

MCA Achievement Level Descriptor Maps (Progressions)

There is a descriptor map for each grade that is tested on the MCA in math, reading, and science. These maps are on the department of education website MDE > Districts, Schools and Educators > Statewide Testing > Achievement Level

During the 2016 MCTM Spring Conference, a need was expressed for creating a statewide resource of how districts provide staff development during the school duty day.
